Vettr is a Chrome extension that helps you spot fake Amazon reviews.
We built it to be useful without being creepy. Here's exactly what data
we touch, what we don't, and who else is involved.
What we collect
Amazon product data: When you visit an Amazon product page, Vettr reads the product title, price, rating, review count, star distribution, and seller info from that page. This data is used to calculate trust scores and is sent to our server for AI analysis if you're a Pro user.
Review text: A sample of reviews from the product page is sent to our server for AI-powered fake review detection. Reviews are processed and not stored long-term.
Email address: If you sign in with Google, we store your email to manage your account and subscription status.
Payment info: Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, billing address, or any payment details. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status from Stripe.
Usage counts: We track how many products you've analyzed per day to enforce free-tier limits. No product details are stored in usage logs.
Cached scores: AI analysis results are cached by product ID (ASIN) so repeat visits are faster. Caches expire after 48 hours.
What we do NOT collect
Your browsing history or the URLs you visit
Any data from non-Amazon pages
Your Amazon account info, order history, or purchase data
Personal information beyond your email address
Cookies, fingerprints, or tracking identifiers
Anything from other tabs or extensions
Third-party services
Vettr uses the following services to work. Each has its own privacy policy:
All communication between the extension and our servers uses HTTPS.
The Gemini API key is stored server-side and never included in the extension code.
Data storage and retention
Analysis caches expire after 48 hours.
Deal search caches expire after 24 hours.
Community search results are cached locally in your browser for 24 hours.
Usage logs are kept to enforce daily limits and are not used for any other purpose.
If you delete the extension, all locally stored data is removed automatically by Chrome.
Your choices
Use without signing in: Vettr works without an account. You get basic trust scores with no data sent to our servers.
Sign out anytime: Click your avatar in the side panel and sign out. Your server-side data stays until caches expire naturally.
Uninstall: Removing the extension deletes all local data. To delete your account and server-side data, contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we change what data we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page
and the "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll
show a notice in the extension.
